John Pirics

John Pirics has been a law enforcement officer with the Carmel Police Department for over twenty years. Over half of his career has been spent investigating crimes against children, and for the last several years he has been assigned full time to the Hamilton County Metro Child Exploitation Task Force. Detective Pirics has spoken often at the Dallas Crimes Against Children Conference, at the Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance in 2015, and at Gundersen National Child Protection Training Center’s Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) Summit for the past 3 years.


Jane Straub

Jane Straub is the Victim Assistance Specialist for the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center (JWRC), a program of Gundersen National Child Protection Training Center. Jane has been working in the violence prevention and intervention field for almost 20 years. She has had the opportunity to work with victim/survivors of all ages and their families as well as offenders. In addition to providing advocacy and support, Jane is a national trainer on topics such as domestic abuse, sexual violence, stalking, trafficking, bullying/cyberbullying, reproductive coercion and impact of trauma (Ace Study). One of Jane’s goals is to work with a variety of fields such as law enforcement, all components of health, education, social services and business to collectively connect the dots of risk and prevention and to provide services and hope for all of our children and families.
